Advice
...as in I need some help over here. We are in need of a new camera. Where do I start looking? Should I get a point and shoot, or an SLR? Up until now, I haven't been much of a picture taker, but since I have started this blog I am starting to take more (and I am enjoying it). So talk to me people, and tell me what you like or dislike about your cameras.

If you get a slr make sure that you do a little research on what kinds of lenses will auto focus from it...
for example- the nikon d40 is a reasonable price for a slr... the problem is- some of the nikon lenses will not auto focus with it.. you can put it on it, so it's compatable but you will have to focus it manually which would be a pain in the behind with kids.
Other than that... I don't have much.. :)
I've seen/taken fabulous photos with a point-and-shoot, and I've seen/taken terrible photos with a dSLR.
My advice is to figure out what matters to you in a camera (size, quality, ease-of-use) and what you'll be using it for (do you like photography and want to play with a camera or just point and shoot) and spend some time on dpreview.com.
btw - I'm not suggesting that a point-and-shoot is better, I'm just saying that it's probably more important to focus on what you want to do with it. :)
yes, yes, I understand...thank you very much E and J!
